Overview:
This course is primarily
intended for plants that use Allen-Bradley controllers from several
different platform families and thus require a wide variety of
communication setups for programming and troubleshooting. Hands-on
exercises cover identifying and connecting the proper programming cables
and also the steps required to configure the appropriate communication
drivers in RSLinx. Students will also practice going online with various
processors using the appropriate RSLogix programming software.
Students will obtain
the maximum benefit from this class by conducting a preliminary inventory
of their plant’s PLC systems and communication hardware. This will allow
the instructor to focus on the specific types of configurations which the
student will encounter on the job. We’ll be glad to help you conduct this
inventory before the class meets – usually a discussion by phone is all
that is required.
Students are also
welcome to bring their own programming computers and communication
hardware to be used during the class. Although we provide a wide variety
of equipment for the hands-on exercises, many students find it helpful to
work with the exact hardware and software which they will be using when
back on the job.

learning skills which are required on the job. Small class size with
only one student per workstation allows the instructor to coach each
student over-the-shoulder. By working independently, each student obtains
