Level 1 and 2 Skills for
ControlLogix Using RSLogix5000 – Discrete and Analog Signals
Number:
C1540
Length:
5 days – fast paced
"boot camp" format
Overview:
Our most popular
course for the CLX-5000 platform. A solid, nuts-and-bolts, hands-on course
designed specifically for maintenance technicians. Covers basic
ControlLogix hardware, principle features of RSLogix5000 software, and
basic techniques for working with both discrete and analog signals.
Students learn how to analyze and interpret ladder logic and how to
monitor the PLC program as an aid to troubleshooting equipment problems.
Basic entry-level programming skills are covered but this course is not
intended to be a programming class. The primary objective
is to minimize equipment downtime by improving each student's knowledge of PLCs and by developing effective troubleshooting and problem-solving
skills.
Our unique Problem/Solution
teaching method eliminates boring lectures and instead uses realistic
tasks to keep each student actively involved in learning skills which are
required on the job. Small class size with only one
student per workstation allows
the instructor to coach each student over-the-shoulder. By working
independently, each student obtains the maximum benefit from the class
regardless of previous experience and skill level.
Instead of pre-canned scripted labs, each hands-on exercise presents
realistic tasks which require the student to recognize problems and then
to systematically work out solutions. This class effectively develops the problem-solving skills
which other training methods neglect.
Although this is not intended to be a programming class, it makes an
extremely effective "first step" course for students who plan to become
programmers. This course provides in-depth coverage of how the PLC handles
field inputs and outputs, and a step-by-step analysis of the processor's
scan cycle. These are critical concepts required for effective
programming.
Maximum 6 per class.
Only one student per workstation.
